Delicious Dump Cake

Recipe Post:

It has been a busy time at our home in the last couple of months.  We have had over night guests in our home 37 days out of the last 60 days.  Seventeen people total.   We had 14 of them for 4 days together plus me and my husband.  We had so much fun with them. Those 14 were my children and grandchildren. We look forward, every year, to the time we can spend together. Not all of our grand children or their child were here, and they were missed greatly.  Maybe next summer they can all come.  That would be a total of 21 besides me and my hubby.  Wow our family is growing.  

So you can see why I like to have recipes that I can make up in a hurry. 

My sister gave me this recipe.  I had a Dump Cake recipe that I have made in the past, but this recipe is simply scrumptious, yet so simple to make.  I made it for a picnic at church and our guest missionary driver ask for seconds, to take with him. 

Ingredients:

1  20 oz. can of cherry pie filling

1 20 oz. can of crushed pineapple

1 yellow cake mix

1 cup of coconut

2 sticks of butter melted

1 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions:

Chop nuts and set aside.

(I try to keep some nuts chopped ahead of time, so I can just put this together even quicker.)

Melt 2 sticks of butter or margarine.

Measure out coconut.

Open your cans of fruit.

Using a 9 x 13 oven safe dish, spread  1 can of cherry pie filling in the bottom of the dish. 

Spread 1 can of crushed pine apple on top of the cherries.

Sprinkle the cake mix over the pineapple, then sprinkle the coconut on top of the cake mix.

Pour the butter over the coconut and spread evenly.

Top with crushed nuts.

Bake in preheated oven  at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve while warm.

This Dump Cake is quick and easy to make and full of fruit.

It can cook while you are talking with guests and can be served with ice cream or whipped topping.  It is simply delicious.
