Scripture to Live By:
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
Craft Project: My husband made me an easel to use for painting. I do Magic Art painting. I enjoy it so much. Below is the easel he made to paint on and a number of my paintings.
We work in a children’s club, ages 3 and 4 year old boys and girls, at our church. I tell the Bible story each week and have large picture cards to assist with the story. I needed another easel that would be eye level with the children for the story pages to be displayed on. So I had my husband make me one.
We used scrap lumber we had on hand. If you would like to make an easel, you will need the following materials:
4 1 X 3 inch boards (4 foot or longer)
Cut 3 of the 1x 3 inch boards 4 foot long–
then cut a 30 degree angle on one end of only one of the three boards.
Lay against the end of one other 4 foot board
and screw together.
Use another 4 foot board and lay out a 15 degree angle each
direction from the center of the board.
This will fit in the middle of
the boards we just screwed together.
Drill a hole through all 3 boards the size
of a large nail. I cut the head of the nail
off so I could push the nail inside the boards.
You will have to file or sand the point
of the middle board so it will swivel back
freely.
Next lay a straights edge across
the bottom of the 2 outer boards and
draw a line across the middle board and
cut this board off 1 inch above this line.
This will give the easel the angle so it will need to lean back and stand up.
The resting board, for the pictures, can be cut to the length you need. Then measure from the bottom or top of your 4 foot board to determine the height you need to rest your pictures. Then screw the board to each of the side boards.
Next, cut a back board the width and height you need and attach to the two outer boards as shown.
Now paint the easel.
Next use two very small eye bolts attach one to the center swivel leg, and the other to the resting bar. Attach the chain to each eye bolt.
They are ready to use.
I am so glad to have them. One is just the right height for 3-5 year old’s to view at eye level.
This one is the right height for 6-9 years to view.
This one is just right for me and I enjoy painting on it. So if you need an easel you can follow the steps above and make your own. Hope this post will be helpful for you.
Blessings,
