Scripture to Live By:
Psalms 37:7
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
1 Peter 3:9
Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
Recipe Post:
Spinach, Onion and Provolone Cheese Stromboli; Pepperoni, Kielbasa, Onion & Peppers Stromboli; and my favorite, Pepperoni and Sausage Stromboli.
We were having some friends from out of state visiting so I wanted to make something special. A variety of Stromboli is always special for me. We all enjoyed deciding which we liked best.
The next day, I made my guest a lunch to take with them, for their six hour drive home. I included the three recipes of Stromboli. I really enjoy having people in my home and sharing special recipes with them.
If you would like to try them, I have included the recipe for each one below.
Sausage Spinach Stromboli:
1 loaf of frozen bread dough (thawed)
1 pound of sage sausage
1 box frozen, chopped spinach
1 copped onion
1/2 pound provolone cheese slices
Topping to coat the bread with:
1/4 cup of Parmesan
1/4 cup of butter or margarine
Thaw bread dough and roll out into a (10 x 14 inch) rectangle.
Cook the sausage and and onion together.
Drain and squeeze out the water from the spinach and add it to the sausage and onions.
Roll bread dough out into a (10 x 14 inch) rectangle.
Spread the spinach sausage mixture down the center of the bread dough.
Top with Provolone cheese slices.
Fold one side up over the filling and then turn the ends inward, then bring the other side up and over the bread dough and pinch the seam to the dough.
Place on a cookie sheet flipping the seam side downward.
Mix up Parmesan topping and the Italian seasoning topping.
Brush on Parmesan topping.
Kielbasi and Onion & Peppers and Pepperoni Stromboli
(Italian Sausage could be substituted for Kielbasi)
(I prefer Italian Sausage, but didn’t have any on hand)
1 pound of turkey Kielbasi or Italian Sausage
1 cup of sweet peppers (red, yellow, orange or green)
1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
1/4 pound of pepperoni
1/2 pound of provolone slices
1/2 pound of mozzarella cheese
Topping to brush over the bread:
1/4 cup of melted butter
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 Tablespoons of Parmesan Cheese
Slice Kielbasi and fry in skillet.
Drain on paper towel.
Cut up peppers and onions and add 1 teaspoon of Italian Seasoning
Cook until onions are translucent.
Roll bread dough out into a (10 x 14 inch) rectangle.
Spread Kielbasi out in the center of the bread dough.
Next spread the onion and peppers on top of the Kielbasi and then top with pepperoni.
Add the Mozzarella Cheese
Then top with slices Provolone cheese.
Next pull one side over top of the filling. Fold the ends in before bringing the other side up and over the Stromboli.
Mix topping in a bowl and brush the mixture on top of each loaf.
Sausage & Pepperoni Stromboli
1 loaf of frozen bread dough (thawed)
1 pound of sausage, cooked and drained
1 pound of pepperoni
2 cups of Mozzarella cheese
Topping to coat the bread with:
1/4 cup of Parmesan
1/4 cup of butter or margarine
Roll bread dough out into a (10 x 14 inch) rectangle.
Spread the Sausage down the center of the bread dough.
Layer the pepperoni on top of the sausage.
(I cook the pepperoni in microwave oven for one minute on paper towels
to get some of the grease out of it before putting it on my Stromboli)
Spread the Mozzarella cheese on top of the pepperoni.
Bring one side of the dough up and over top of the filling. Then fold each end in on top of the dough and finally pull the other side of the dough up and over the entire roll.
Flip Stromboli over putting seam downward on the cookie sheet.
Brush Parmesan topping on top of it.
Now all three are ready to rise for approximately 20 minutes.
Bake in oven at 350 degrees until golden brown, approximately 25-30 minutes.
Spinach Sausage Stromboli
Kielbasi and Onion & Peppers and Pepperoni Stromboli
Sausage Pepperoni Stromboli
All three kinds are really good and can be served as a sampler, for each to decide their favorite.
Hope you will try them.
Blessings,
