Scripture to Live By:
Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel” (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.
Recipe Post: In Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah foretold of the birth of Jesus, some 750 years before it happened, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” Can you image that God came to earth in the form of a baby. The God of the universe came to be with us and to be our Lord and Savior. EMMANUEL God with us. Can you image holding the Son of God in your arms being trusted by God to be his birth mom and to give Joseph the privilege of raising Him in his home. Today God has in trusted us to share the message of His love and salvation for mankind. What a trust God has bestowed on us. Oh to be found faithful to Him in this trust this Christmas season.
We celebrated Christmas with a birthday cake for Jesus. We want Jesus to be the center of all our Christmas celebration. This year I also made a birthday cake for Jesus, to celebrate with our Awana clubbers. I want them to keep their focus on the true meaning of Christmas. If you have not celebrated Jesus birthday with a cake, this cake is very simple and easy cake to make. Just choose your favorite cake mix flavor and make according to directions on the cake mix. Bake and let cool before frosting.
Frost with your favorite frosting recipe, or use mine. It is as follows:
1 cup of margarine
1 cup of Crisco
4 cups of powdered sugar
1/3 cup of evaporated milk
2 teaspoons of vanilla
Put in large mixing bowl and beat for approximately 10 minutes.
Frost the cake and then add borders. Use tip # 32 for the borders.
Use tip #3 to do the writing with.
I added green and red skittles to the bottom of the cake.
I purchase the manger craft kit from Oriental Trading
for Kingdom Kids craft and decided to put one together for the cake.
Place it on the cake,
This was so simple to make but it shows the story of his birthday.
I love the remembering of God,s promise to send his son to be our Savior each year at Christmas.
I am looking forward to celebrating Jesus birth with my children, grand children and great grandchildren this year. We are having our Christmas celebration at my daughters house.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Matthew 1:21
