Scripture to Live By:
Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.
For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah
I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

Cake Decorating Post:
Our Pastor’s grandson turned nine years old and I was asked to make his birthday cake. He wanted a cake with something with Lego’s on it. I ordered a fire truck with a Lego fireman to put on the cake. The cake was to serve fifty people. I was ask to make it half chocolate and the other half vanilla. So if you would every want to make this cake, the following is what you will need.
Ingredients:
2 Yellow cake mixes
1 Devil Food or chocolate cake mix
9 eggs
1 cup of oil
3 cups of water
12 x 18 inch pan
Mix 2 yellow cake mixes according to the directions on the box in your mixing bowl.
While it is mixing grease and flour your cake pan.
Pour 3/4’s of the mixture into your pan and spread out evenly in half of the pan.
(I tilt the pan slightly by putting a knife under one end until I get ready to pour the chocolate cake batter in the pan, so the vanilla cake batter will stay at one end better.)
Mix your Devil’s food cake mix according to the directions on the box in with the remainder of the vanilla batter.
Pour the chocolate batter in the pan beside the vanilla as shown below.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from oven when cake is done and the top bounces back when touched gently.
Let cake cool for approximately 20 minutes. Take a knife and, using the top of your pan as a guideline, trim off any access cake to make the top of your cake flat, like the bottom will be. Let cool another 10 minutes. Flip the cake onto the serving/decorating board with the cut side face down.
(Don’t let it cool completely or it will stick to the pan.)
Let cool completely before frosting.
Frosting Recipe:
4 cups of powdered sugar
1 cup of Crisco
1 cup of margarine
2 teaspoons of vanilla
1/3 cup of condensed milk
Mix together and beat on high speed for 10 minutes.
(I doubled this recipe due to the size of the cake.)
Color frosting with Wilton paste colors.
For the Lego cake, I wanted the edges to be yellow. I colored approximately 1/3 of the batch of frosting yellow. I used a metal spatula to spread it on the edges.
I colored 1/2 of the frosting, that remained, green to frost the top of the cake and do the borders.
Next I laminated a Lego emblem.
(Make sure you trim the picture of the emblem before you laminate the emblem. You want the emblem encased in the laminate so the frosting will not bleed through to your picture.)
Trim the laminate approximately 1/4 inch from the emblem on each side.
Cover the edges of the emblem with a border.
Next I wrote the birthday greeting on the cake with yellow frosting and then went back over it with black frosting to give the greeting depth.
I purchased a Lego city fire atv with a Lego fireman and put them together and placed them on the cake. The little boy I made the cake for was celebrating his ninth birthday. I placed a nine birthday candle on the cake.
Austyn really enjoyed his cake. This cake is so simple to make. You do not have to be a
professional cake decorator to do this. (I am not.) The cost for making this cake is minimal compared to what it would cost at the bakery. Why not try to do it yourself next time.
Blessings,
