Scripture to Live By:
Thy words were found and I did eat them and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart, O Lord God of host. Jeremiah 15:16
(I took the Word of God into my soul and digested it, by applying it to my life. It gives me joy and rejoicing in my heart in pleasing God.)
(God’s) Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
Helpful Tips:
I went to the thrift store the other day looking for some Polo shirts for our grandsons, who are working as caddies this summer. Their attire is to be polo shirts and khaki pants when caddying. My husband found these three shirts. We purchase the three of them for $4.50. I brought them home and washed them, when I took them out of the dryer, I notice a small hole in one of them. It was right on the front of the shirt. I was so disappointed. But I got out my fabric mending tape (Bondex) and Fray Check and went to work to see what I could do.
First, I set up my ironing board and iron. Set the iron on cotton setting.
Next, I cut me a small piece of Bondex mending tape, approximately 1 inch square.
Turned the shirt inside out, and placed the black square over the hole and put the heated iron on the mending tape and held in there for 30 seconds. (I just moved the iron around on top of the tape so it didn’t burn the fabric.)
Next, I let the shirt set for 10 minutes to give the mending tape time to bond good. I turned the shirt right side out and took the iron and ironed the torn spot flat, that was on the front side of fabric.
I took Fray Check and put it on the spot, so the material would not fray. Let the Fray Check dry completely.
You can hardly tell where the spot is and it should not fray or get larger when it is washed.
So if you have a garment that has a small hole or snag, don’t throw it away. Now you can easily mend it. and continue to ware it. I love going to the thrift store and so enjoy saving money. Hope you will try mending your garments. You may enjoy it and see how useful this process can be. It really bothers me to throw things which only have a little hole in them so I have used this method of mending clothing for quiet a while and it works for me and I hope you will try it and see if it works for you.
Blessings,
