And God said, let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth: and it was so. AKJV
Our wonderful God created all things including the luscious fruit trees. One of my favorite is the pineapple. I really enjoy fresh pineapple both to eat and decorate with. Pineapple is the symbol of hospitality in America. My mom had them displayed in our home in fruit arrangements.
I really enjoy eating pineapple, but in the past, I detested cutting them up. I wasted more than I saved and made a huge mess. What I ended up with, didn’t look presentable.
One of my friends knew that I really disliked cutting them up, but enjoyed eating them, so she would buy one, every now and then and cut it up and bring me some ready to eat. Another friend shared with me an easy way to cut one up so you didn’t lose as much of the pineapple. Now we can enjoy fresh pineapple more frequently, and cutting them up is no longer the chore it used to be.
If cutting up pineapple has been a problem to you, here is the easy way I was taught. The secret is in the grapefruit knife. Sometimes it is hard to find grapefruit knives, but, I found the one seen below at Amazon.com.
Here is what you will need:
Fresh Pineapples
Knife
Grapefruit knife
Cutting Board(so you don’t mess up your counter tops)
Display tray
Individual Serving dish
First, I remove the cap and the end as shown.
Then, I cut the pineapple lengthwise into quarters.
Remove the core from each quarter.
You can cut each quarter in half which will make 8 pieces. It is easier to handle this way
Next, cut the rind off each quarter, using a grapefruit knife. With the knife having a rounded surface it makes it easy to separate it from the rind.
Slice it up in desired sizes.
Display it as a center piece or in individual serving dishes. Smile and enjoy it as you show hospitality to others.
I am so thankful God created all things for us to enjoy, especially the pineapple, and I am doing so, since learning how to cut it up more efficiently. Hope this will be helpful to you, as well.
Blessings,

Thank you for the tip and photos!! I have always wondered if there was an easier way. Pineapple is my favorite fruit too, so this will definitely come in handy. I pinned your tutorial to my board. Thanks.

Very good idea. I actually already own a grapefruit knife but rarely use it because I always peel the grapefruit and section it out. I have a Pineapple Corer Slicer device that works awesome on pineapple too, if you want rings or very thin chunks.

This is how I cut my pineapple too, but I've never tried a grapefruit knife. Did you know that you can leave the core on the pieces? It's a little crunchy to eat on it's own, but if you leave it attached it's great.

Love fresh pineapple. I usually just buy the ones already peeled and cored. Will have to give this a try!
