Scripture to Live By:
We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
Hebrews 2:1
The Word of God is so powerful. This week we are having Revival Meetings at our church and God has used the meetings to revive my own heart as to where I am in my walk with God. The speaker ask this question. “Has there ever been a time in your life that you were closer to God than you are today?” Then he said, “If there has been, then you are drifting.”
He used the example of a pilot drifting off course and the dangers involved with that, if you don’t stay on course. Even a tenth of a degree would take you of course and miles away from your destination over distance.
He asked, “Have you gotten off course in your spiritual walk with God?
The following are some of the Scripture verses he used.
Psalm 100:2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
With this verse he used Mary and Martha and the attitude of Martha’s service. She wasn’t serving with gladness. She was finding fault with her sister. She wasn’t focused on her relationship with the Lord and spending time with Him, but on her sister. Are you serving the Lord with gladness or is your focus on what others are or are not doing?
2 Corinthians 6:16-18
What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:“I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” Therefore,“Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” And “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
Revelation 2:4,5
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
He said God will put us on a shelf if we continue to drift. We are the loser when we drift.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. James 4:8
I am a sinner saved by the grace of God. My desire is to honor God in my relationship to him. I am so thankful for God speaking to me through this man using His word.
Recipes Post:
My sister-in-law gave me this recipe many years ago. I like to make it for family get togethers and for many other occasions, especially holidays and church gatherings. This recipe makes one 9 x 13 dish and a 6 x 6 inch dish. It is very refreshing in hot weather, as well as colorful and very tasty. You could cut it in half, according to your needs.
What you will need:
2 packages of Strawberry Jello
2 packages of Lemon Jello
2 packages of Lime Jello
2 apples
1 cup of pecans
1 (8 ounce) package of cream cheese
1 can of crushed pineapple
Bottom Layer – 1 package of Strawberry Jello. Follow the directions on the package. Peel and dice apples into bite size. Then add prepared apples.
Choose the dish you want to serve your jello salad in. I chose a bowl for this salad but most of the time I use a 9 x 13 dish and a 6 x 6 inch dish. I was serving this at a ladies meeting so I chose a bowl instead.
After you mix the strawberry jello and the apples together, pour mixture into a dish that is deep enough to hold all three flavors mixed. Put in the refrigerator and let set. Make sure each layer is set before putting the next layer on top of it or it will run together.
While the red jello with the apple is setting, mix up the lemon jello according to the directions on the box.
To the lemon jello you will add 1 package (8 ounce) cream cheese. I mix this with a mixer on low speed just long enough for the cheese to be broken up and then add 1 cup of chopped pecans
Put this mixture in the refrigerator for approximately 10 to 15 minutes or just long enough for the jello is cooled down but not set, and then pour over the red jello.
Return to refrigerator and let set.
Mix up 2 package of lime jello according to the direction on the box with one exception. Add only 3 cups of water and add the juice with the crushed pineapple. Mix thoroughly and put in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes until it cools down. Then pour it on top of the lemon jello that has set.
Let it set firmly before serving.
It looks so pretty on a plate.
You can serve it with out a topping or you can add ice cream or cool whip.
As I look forward to warmer weather and all the tasty salads, this one tops the list.
Try it and see if you don’t agree.
Blessings,
