“Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:28-31 KJV
Do you ever feel like all you do is run, run, run and that you are growing weary of all the deadlines you need to meet. Your ‘to do’ list is getting longer and your time is getting shorter. There is a phrase I heard years ago that said, “The hurrier I go, the behinder I get.” Does that describe you? It sure does me at times.
In the verses above, God has given us the answer to that problem. I must stop trying to accomplish my ‘to do’ list in my strength and the time limit I have set for them. Maybe my list is just humanly impossible in the time frame I have. Maybe I need to prioritize what should come first even before my ‘to do list’.
The verse above says that those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. I need to wait in the presence of God to have my strength renewed, so I can soar like an eagle, so relaxed and calm. Then as I run, I will not be weary, and I can walk and not faint. First things first, waiting on and before God to get my strength renewed, then soar like an eagle.
Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (I believe that God is the King of His kingdom, and he wants to rule in my life each day.)
Now on to my project, I have a canister set that I have had for approximately thirteen years. It is the Pfaltzgraff Rosalinda pattern, which I really like, but since we have moved, it doesn’t match our kitchen decor.
I just kept thinking about what I could do to it, since it is glass and the design is permanently in the glass. As I thought on it, I wanted them to match my border, around the top of the kitchen and complement my kitchen valances.
Since the border has fruit and flowers, and the valance has fruit in it, I decided to take a portion of the border wallpaper, cut it out and use it to make-over my canister set.
I only wanted a portion of this picture.
I wanted the strawberries and the white morning glory flower with leaves.
So here is what I did. I gathered up what was needed.
Wallpaper border, scissors, paint brush, Mod Podge and of course my canister set.
I cut out four of these, one for each canister.
Next, I brushed water on the back of the applique wall paper so it would stick to the canisters,
yet if I needed to move it, I could.
Let it dry slightly and then paint the entire area with Mod Podge.
The Mod Podge is milky looking when you put it on, but it dries clear. After I did all the canisters, I let them dry thoroughly.
I am very pleased with the way they turned out. They are bright and springy and add a fresh look to the kitchen. It cost very little to up-date them, yet it added a special touch to the room.
Blessings,
