Scripture to Live By:
Colossians 2:26,27
The mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people.
To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
What is the mystery that has been hidden for ages and generation? It is Christ in you, the hope of glory. I am so glad that the moment that I received Jesus Christ as my personal Savior that he came into my heart and gave me his Holy Spirit to change my entire life. I can still remember the day it happened some 42 years ago. My heart became His Home. I have wanted Jesus to be at home in my heart and to keep it free from sinful thoughts, words and actions. I am so glad that He shows me when there is something displeasing to Him and gives me the opportunity to ask Him to cleanse that room of my heart so that He can be at home in me. I want to truly walk with Him and talk with Him and have Him tell me I am His own.
Recipe Post:
I have a friend who introduced me to Apple Kuchen. She made it regularly because her husband really enjoyed it and it was his mothers recipe. When she made it she would bring me some to enjoy as well.
This is not her recipe, it is my own but I think it turned out very well. So I decided to share it with you.
What you will need:
Combine:
2 Tablespoons dry yeast
1/2cup warm water
2 teaspoons sugar
Let stand for 5 minutes
Add together:
3/4 cups melted shortening, oil or butter
1 cup of warm water
1 cup milk
2 1/2 teaspoons of salt
2 eggs beaten
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups of raisins
Pour into the yeast mixture.
Add:
6 1/2 to 7 cups of flour
(If it is still sticky add another 1/2 cup of flour.
Blend well, cover and let stand for approximately 30 minutes.
While dough is rising, peel your cooking apples, I recommend that you use Granny Smith apples.
You will need approximately 15 large apples
(I put my peeled and slice apples thinly in a bowl of water with and
1/8 cup lemon juice to keep the apples from browning.)
Drain well before placing them on the kuchen dough.
After dough has risen for 30 minutes.
Divide it in half and spread it out on 2 – 12×19 inch cookie sheets.
Make 4 rows of apple slices. Start at one end and work your way to the bottom.
Sprinkle the apples with cinnamon and sugar.
Bake at 350 for approximately 30 minutes until golden brown and apples are tender.
Remove from oven and cool.
Sprinkle powdered sugar heavily over the kuchen.
Serve plain or with a scoop of ice cream.
This Apple Kuchen recipe makes two pans. Enough to enjoy as a family with extra to share with others.
I really enjoy Apple Kuchen. Hope you will too!
Blessings,

One of my favorites since it's yeasty and not real cake like. Reminds me of my Oma and the irreplaceable scent of baking apples and yeast! This basic dough can be used with Italian plums too and it's amazing!
