Scripture to Live By:
“Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Romans 12:17-21
Frugal Find Post:
One of my pleasures each year is, to go to my daughter’s housing development, “Community Garage Sale”. We make it a family affair and each of the children enjoy it, as much as the adults. We make it a day of fun for all, with lunch and snacks to boot.
Each of us come away rejoicing over the things we purchased. Last year, I came away with a patio set that consisted of a table, umbrella and six chairs, a small table and two foot rest. I found a shop vacuum cleaner, for my husband, that had a large diameter hose with it. He was so pleased for finding one with a large diameter hose and plenty of power. It can also be used as a water pump. It only cost fifteen dollars. I, also, found a flower holder, that I really liked, but it was rusted and needed to be refurbished, but the price was certainly right.
The other day, I decided it was time to give it a paint job and bring it to life with summer flowers.
So I got out my paint can.
I gave it a couple of coats of paint and it looks, “good as knew”.
I went to Lowe’s to get some flowers that I could use in my “new” flower holder.
I choose Petunias that are Red, White, and Blue. I was thrilled when I saw that the containers they came in were the color of the flowers. I brought them home and put them in my garage sale flower holder.
These flowers will certainly fit into the 4th of July decorations.
I decided that just the right spot, to display them, would be on my patio, with my Draperies to Patio Furniture. They add life to my patio and brighten it up.
When you go to a garage sale, be sure to take a good look at the things that may be rusted or a little tattered. Keep in mind what a little sanding and spray paint can do.
Since we have moved to WV, I will not get to go to my daughter’s “Community Garage Sale”, as often. But I will cling to the memories of all the fun we had and the things that each of us brought home, or should I say, that our husbands had to go back later and bring home for us. How thankful I am for all my frugal finds, but I am more thankful for the time I was able to spend with my children and grandchildren and all the memories we built. Cherish the moments.
Blessings,
