Scripture to Live By:
James 1:5-8 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Helpful Hints:
When our children were small my furniture took a beating. After our house fire, we bought new furniture and I was determined that I wanted to protect our furniture, as much as I could. I had seen glass tops on my sisters coffee table and end table and so I knew it was possible to have them. I am not sure if she bought her table with the glass top on it or if she purchased it at a later date, I never ask her. But my husband went to a glass company and ask them about making us tops for our new tables. They told him they could, but they would need a template to know the exact measurements and design to make the glass tops. My husband was told he would need to bring in a temp-let of each table top. We also wanted to put a glass top on our dresser in our bed room, as well as the two night stands. We had a glass top made for our buffet in the dining room as well. We made temp-lets for each of these pieces of furniture. Here is how we did it.
We took some freezer paper, (you could use wrapping paper to lay it out, if you want, but freezer paper was stronger and wouldn’t rip as easily), we laid it on the tables and then took a pencil and rub around the end we wanted the glass to fit on.
After I had the pattern traced on the freezer paper. I cut it out and laid it on the piece of furniture I had traced the top of. This picture is of the night stand in our bedroom. I would need two of these, one for each night stand.
Fits perfect. We repeated the process on each piece of furniture to get the exact temp-let we needed.
Mark the temp-let with the number of glass tops you want made.
We made temp-lets for the dresser and night stands in our bedroom, Coffee table and end table in the living room, the buffet in the dining room and the island in the kitchen. We had the glass tops made for each of them and here is how they look now.

If you have tops that are square or rectangular shape you just need the measurements (length & width) and the radius you want on the corners and you want the edges rounded so you will not get cut on them.
This is what we did on the buffet in the dining room and on the glass that is on the Kitchen Island.

I really like the protection these glass tops give to my furniture and it is so easy to make temp-lets for each of them. Then you just take them to a glass cutting store. Let them know the thickness of the glass you want and give them the temp-lets you have made and they will do the rest. We had them make the glass tops a quarter of an inch thick. Hope you like them as well. Glass tops are a great way to save your furniture and they look good too.
Blessings,
