Scripture To Live By:
O Lord, you have searched me and known me!You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.
Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,”
even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
If I would count them, they are more than the sand.I awake, and I am still with you….
Search me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
Psalm 139:1-18,23,24
Every child is important to God and He has a plan and a purpose for each one. I am so very thankful for the privilege of meeting this little boy that I made these cakes for. He is a great blessing. There is a story to share about him, but it is his story to tell someday.
Cake Decorating Post:
I made these cakes for a little two year old boy’s birthday. He is such a sweetie. He likes trains. The large cake was enjoyed by our church family that attended his party.
This cake was for Remington to celebrate all by himself and to see what he would do with it.
Here is what you will need to make these cakes.
4 cake mixes
1 dozen eggs
2 2/3 cups of oil
water
An 8 inch round cake pan and a 12 1/2 inch x 18 1/2 inch pan
Grease and flour pans.
Mix up vanilla cake mixes first, then mix up chocolate cake mixes.
(That way you do not have to wash your bowl and beaters.)
Pour into pans and bake according to instructions on boxes.
(To see the process of baking a cake go here)
While the cakes are baking mix up the frosting.
1 recipe of frosting takes
4 cups of powdered sugar
1 cup of Crisco
1 cup of margarine
1/3 cup of evaporated milk
2 teaspoons of vanilla
Mix together and beat at high speed for 7-10 minutes
Cool cakes completely on cooling racks before frosting them.
Place cakes on serving dishes before frosting.
Frost the cakes and then add borders. As shown below.
This little boy likes trains and I wanted to put one on his cake.
So I took a picture of Thomas the Tank and trimmed all the white from it.
I then ran it through my Xyron machine to laminate it so I could put it on the cake.
Trim off excess laminate from the picture.
Place the picture on the cake where you want it to go and then put a border around the edges.
You can buy edible pictures at some bakeries, they cost around ten dollars.
The picture I put on the cake had to be lifted off before eating the cake.
Write your greeting on the cake. Now it is ready to serve.
I decorated Remington’s cake with M&M’s and bought a Thomas the tank train with a little coal car with a number 2 on it. He was two years on so it worked out well. I put hearts on each side. He is very dear to my heart.
On the sheet cake I put a couple of train tracks and a number 2 candle for his second birthday.
I put M&M’s around the bottom border, as well.
I was pleased with the way the cakes turned out and they made a little boy so happy.
If I can do it, so can you.

I've used toys to decorate birthday cakes before.. but I never thought to use laminated pictures!! These cakes are beautiful!
Jo-Ann says
Thank you Kristen for your comment. Laminating is cheaper than buying the edible. You can make any image this way and I also bought a frame for him to save the picture and hang it on his wall. (Just clean off any frosting and you have a picture.) Blessings, Jo-Ann

Tell Marissa, "Thank You" Remmington, ran the train all over the cake, table and himself. I guess he thought it was yummy. I am making a cake this week for a little 2 year old girl. Kept her in the nursery Sunday. Adorable.
