Scripture to Live By:
The Apostle Paul wrote the following to the church at Corinth, in 2 Corinthians 4: 3-7
But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bond servants for Jesus’ sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
What is this treasure in earthen vessels spoken of above? The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the treasure, and it has power to change lives.
What is the gospel?
2 Corinthians 3: 3-4 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,…
Our Salvation is a treasure. God took the treasure and placed it in earthen vessels. We as believers are His earthen vessels. Why did he do that? He did it to magnify his power through us. God’s Word is a treasure as well. As we study and memorize His Word, He is able to use us (earthen vessels) to share it with others. God has chosen us to share this Gospel to all those who sit in darkness, that they might experience His great love through the salvation that He has provided to all people. I have to ask myself daily, “What am I doing with the treasure God has given to me, am I sharing it with those who do not know Him?” Am I seeking to “Rescue the Perishing”, by sharing the treasure of the gospel with them as God planned?
Food Post:
I have been throwing out my watermelon rind for years and never realized the benefits in it. I listened to Dr. Oz the other day, and he was talking about us throwing in the garbage things that are health boosters to us. Go here to see what he had to say.
He said, “Juicy watermelon rinds offer a high dose of cirulline amino acid – which helps dilate blood vessels, improving blood circulation.” With my husband’s heart history, and my own scares with high blood pressure from time to time, I certainly want to eat healthy and reap the benefits of foods that can help.
We really enjoy eating watermelon and from now on, I will not throw the rind away. I will cut it up in little pieces and save it to make into a healthy heart drink. Hope you will try it for your self.
Here is what you will need:
2 cups of watermelon rind cut up into bite sizes
1 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries and strawberries
1 cup of water (put in 1/2 cup water when you blend the watermelon rind and the other 1/2 cup when you add the blueberries and strawberries.
1 individual packet of Crystal Light natural lemonade
(I remove the sticker and wash the watermelon before cutting it.)
Cut watermelon and enjoy it, but save the rind.
I have been throwing out my watermelon rind for years and never realized the benefits in it. I listened to Dr. Oz the other day, and he was talking about us throwing in the garbage things that are health boosters to us.
Cut up rind and reserve to make Watermelon Rind Blueberry drink.
Measure out 2 cups of cut up watermelon rind, 1cup of blueberries,
1 cup of strawberries (fresh or frozen, I use frozen).
Put the watermelon rind in the blender with 1/2 cup of water and
blend on liquefy until smooth.
Add 1 cup of blueberries (The ones I am using are from my blueberry bushes).
Add 1/2 cup of water with the blueberries and blend on liquefy until smooth.
Add 1 cup of fresh or frozen strawberries. (I use frozen, it makes your drink cold.)
Blend on liquefy until smooth.
Add 1 individual packet of Crystal Light in the blender. (This adds more flavor to the drink.)
Add a few fresh blueberries, strawberries and fresh watermelon slices and serve it in a goblet. It makes for a very appetizing drink, as well as being full of antioxidants and being healthy for your heart. I have stopped throwing in the garbage can such heart healthy foods.
Blessings,
