“This is the day which the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24
“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”
Genesis 8:22
I am so thankful for God’s promises to us. God says the seasons will remain as long as the earth does.
I love to see God’s creation come alive and being able to enjoy it, whether I am indoors or out.
Seed time is here, in some parts of the country. My husband has been cleaning out the flower beds getting them ready to plant seeds and bulbs. It has been a beautiful week. My spring flowers are in full bloom. The daffodils, tulips and grape hyacinths are so refreshing. The grass is green and the trees are budding out. There are signs of new life all around. Birds are building their nests. Calves are in the fields with their mamma’s. The earth is coming alive again. I love bringing those spring flowers indoors, so I can enjoy them while I am in the house. Spring is my favorite time of the year.
The other day I was shopping with my daughter at our local thrift store and I came across a candle holder and some artificial greenery for three dollars. They were really dirty, so I wasn’t sure I could do much with them, but for three dollars, I had to give it a try.
I took them home and gave them a good cleaning.
I washed them in hot water and dish liquid.
What a difference in their appearance!
After washing the candle holder I realized it had rust on it in places.
So it had to be sanded.
After sanding, we sprayed it with Rustoleum Universal Hammered copper paint.
It was sprayed out doors and it dried very quickly. It looked so much better.
I wove the artificial greenery around each stick.
I also added some artificial babies breath, since I didn’t have any fresh on hand.
Here was my chance to bring the outdoors indoors.
I added some fresh spring flowers from my garden.
After my spring flowers die, I will add some artificial spring flowers.
I added five white candles to the candle holder to finish off my arrangement.
My $3.00 thrift store candle holder had turned into a lovely centerpiece for my dining room table.
I love getting crafty bargains, and making them look pretty.
I am pleased with my thrift store find and the way it turned out.
What fun bargains have you found lately?
Blessings,
